With the aim of contributing to developing capacities that allow the community to participatively monitor the emissions that affect the bay of Quintero and Puchuncaví, as well as their impacts, allowing them to inform and educate the inhabitants of the territory, within the framework of the line of action "Monitoring and Environmental Education" of the "Enel Sustainability Plan in Quintero", and also, providing recommendations to the community in the face of critical episodes, the Quintero Mide project emerged.
To achieve its purpose, after more than three years of joint work between the community and the company, as well as the training of a group of social representatives of the territory, since 2019 the Quintero Mide Corporation has existed, an independent and autonomous entity that continues the preparation of its members with the aim of being a leading actor in terms of community environmental monitoring, in one of the most industrially intervened areas of the country.
Currently, the Corporation is in a second stage of courses and training with consultants Quintil Valley and Bitecma, with emphasis, in addition to environmental issues, on other key aspects for the sustainability of the institution, such as operational, financing and management aspects. communications.
In line with its work, a presentation stage has also begun to different stakeholders, such as the Municipality of Quintero and regional environmental and energy authorities, which will continue with other companies in the industrial park, and with the implementation of a pilot plan that allows joint monitoring of different indicators.
