Innovability is a concept that brings together innovation and sustainability to develop projects that should have an innovative and sustainable impact on the community. Following this vision, the Company has been implementing initiatives that involve photovoltaic generation systems and replace conventional, older public lights with more efficient ones, in places defined together with local stakeholders. The implementation of such projects has allowed the Company to illuminate currently dark areas and optimize the community´s energy consumption promoting urban development, recovering public spaces and, consequently, helping to improve people´s life quality contributing decisively to Enel's commitment to the country's energy transition by leading communities along on this journey.
As part of the Innovability project of the Quintero Sustainability Plan, we have implemented a joint program with the community which seeks to incorporate initiatives that contribute to urban development and to improving the life quality of local residents. The project has intervened two sectors of the town of Loncura and developed specific ventures in two other neighborhoods, both currently in progress.
The plan also involved an unprecedented electromobility project for the Quintero Hospital consisting of presenting the hospital with an electric vehicle and a charger which now are used for the Bedridden Patients Program of the Adriana Cousiño Hospital, in a virtuous alliance between the Quintero Hospital Health Council, the Energy Sustainability Agency, the Quintero Hospital, the Viña del Mar – Quillota Health Service and, of course, the Municipality of Quintero. This initiative is the first of its kind in the area and also the first for any health service in the Valparaiso Region.
Apart from boosting the direct relationship between the community and businesses, these initiatives modernize the area and offer the inhabitants an improved quality of life through energy efficiency solutions, recovery of public spaces, better lighting, and electricity costs reduction through distributed generation systems installed in public-use offices where the members of neighbors´ associations meet to discuss local affairs. Such initiatives contribute to the decontamination of the country´s different types of energy as part of the energy transition that Chile is currently embarking on and in which Enel is an important protagonist with the clear purpose of leading the way.
