The School of Electrical Safety for Institutions project aims to contribute to a solid health and safety culture at Enel Distribución Chile. The endeavor strives to create a collaborative network with different institutions working to address emergencies and improve coordination in response to events that may compromise the continuity of the electrical supply and affect communities.
This project is directed toward institutions considered strategic in response to emergencies, such as firefighters, the Chilean national police, and municipal staff. Entities within their functions to protect public safety may be exposed to risk when responding to incidents where distribution and transmission lines are involved.
Making contents of the School of Electrical Safety available online helps reach more people within the Covid context, offering asynchronous training through a virtual platform. In this sense, several theoretical modules were made available on topics such as high-voltage grids, electrical substations, aerial and underground medium- and low-voltage lines, inspection and loss control, e-mobility, CISE (Integrated Center for Safety), and risk prevention, all designed and prepared by specialists from Enel Distribución Chile.
The project ends with a visit to the company's Center for Operational Excellence, where participants can practice the protocols governing their actions in different risk situations.
In 2021, training was provided to over 300 people from around 20 institutions, including city governments, firefighters, CONAF, and others.
Training offered the chance to share experiences and strengthen a collaborative network to achieve better response capacity, preventing risks to the community and customers in general and to first responders.
