Physical activity and sports are essential for peoples' overall formation and are part of our human rights. For this reason, Enel Distribución Chile has been working since 2017 to develop the Renovation and Delivery of Lighting Systems for Multipurpose Sports Fields project. This initiative has given over 5,000 people recreation spaces to join as a community and practice sports.
We are modernizing sports facilities across 30 communities in our concession area. The project aims to at normalizing electric systems and updating lighting, replacing them with a safer and more efficient infrastructure that offers energy savings, lower maintenance costs, better quality of life, and less impact on the environment. Moreover, the project considers the signing of a gratuitous loan, which grants the transfer of the administration and responsibility for maintaining the electric and lighting system to social, community, or municipal organizations, making them development asset managers for the community.
The project execution time is planned and established in collaboration between the community, the city government, and our company. As a result, we have recovered ten multipurpose sports fields across four communities in 2021 alone. 1 in Cerro Navia, 5 in Huechuraba, 3 in Colina, and 1 in Macul, which has benefited around 1,120 residents.
