This project is part of the SDG 7
REDES – CEO is a pilot program whose protagonists are a group of 4th year high school students who study electricity in the Lama Liceo Bicentenario. The students were able to put int practice technical training experience based on the requirements of the electricity market, thanks to a alliance between Enel Distribución Chile and the REDES project, promoted by the network of SOFOFA High Schools. To make the project possible, the Company made available the Center of Operational Excellence (CEO).
The training program, which also looked at issues related to the care of the environment and the delivery of quality electrical services to customers, began in October 2020. The first phase was carried out in 20 hours of online theoretical training and then continued with a 56-hour learning module with face-to-face activities, most of them undertaken in Enel Distribución´s Center of Operational Excellence (CEO). The CEO is a space designed to provide technical training in a controlled and safe environment, where the city's electricity grid is replicated permitting to carry energy to all the Metropolitan Region customers. To maximize the group´s training experience, and in relation with the Company´s new digital technologies, students could undertake exercises using Virtual Reality programs in the Enel stadium, thus learning complex real tasks without the risk of working with live electricity.
This training model is part of the Collaborative Learning plan, adequate for the new profile of the electricity technician who must comply with digital transformation and new challenges that already form part of the energy industry.
In 2020, this pilot program benefited 27 students and 1 teacher, providing them with technical knowledge and practical training making it possible to improve their work profile in the electricity market.
The goal of this program is to promote access and job permanence for young people aged between 18 and 24, as part of the UN 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goal No. 8 ("Decent Work and Economic Growth") by creating job opportunities through the promotion of vocational skills focused on education and technical training.
