Intending to contribute to high-quality education in the Metropolitan Region, Enel Distribución Chile and the Chilean Museum of Pre-Colombian Art developed a project that will allow the Museum to share its educational, cultural, and artistic content with the communities in our concession area. Since 2020, and through a donation agreement, the company has provided the Museum with resources to launch an online store where people can purchase tickets for guided tours, general admission, annual passes, and books by the Museum’s publishing company. The Museum has also granted 1,000 complimentary access passes for our communities to take advantage of virtual and in-person guided tours.
This agreement has given communities a closer look at some of the critical components of our national and regional Pre-Colombian identity, with access to over 700 textiles and ceramics created for the ornamental rituals of our native tribes. It also opens up the possibility of understanding the importance of our ancestors and their cultural worldview for the present day.
As of 2021, over 800 visits have been made to the Museum, including educational establishments, neighborhood councils, and different community organizations, helping promote culture as a key component of human development.
