This project is part of the SDG 4, 7 and 10
In 2015, we launched the visit plan to the Maule Plants Plants, specifically to the Pehuenche Plant base and the subsequent trips to the machine room with the overall participation of 2,564 people who, thanks to the program, learnt about the hydraulic renewable energy generation process. As the visits went on, we identified opportunities for improvement in terms of visitor accessibility for people with some kind of disability. In 2019 , we began to work on adapting our infrastructure. In the first stage of the inclusion project, we carried out tasks that today permit visitors to move around the offices, along the streets, and in the rooms where the presentations take place. Ramps were built at the office entrances and parking lots installed for easy access and transfer of visitors. At the same time, universal accessibility for people who lack full mobility or autonomy was implemented in the machine room on the main floor of the Pehuenche Power Plant.
The second stage of adapting the access to the plant, planned for 2021, will focus on guaranteeing universal accessibility for all types of disabilities which will also include organizing a visit program with a multisensory approach. To achieve this, we will develop audiovisual material and operational data in the Pehuenche Power Plant training room that will display the main characteristics of each of the six hydraulic power plants in operation, allowing visitors to perceive the contents through different senses. The people in charge of the program will work with organizations with vast expertise in disability issues to adapt the contents and present them in the correct formats to guarantee universal accessibility and make the visit program a truly inclusive experience for all the communities that live near the Company's operations in the Maule basin.
This project contributes to an increasingly inclusive society, removing barriers to physical access and information existing in the facilities and visiting program.
