This project aims to create a system to treat and dispose of liquid household waste in the priority communities of this area where work will subsequently be carried out on developing entrepreneurship and supplier development projects. This project was presented to the Ministry of Social Development project bank by the Casa de la Paz Foundation, an organization that, together with Enel, assisted  46 poor households in Las Garzas, Los Alamos, and La Mina, in the San Clemente area, on the Pehuenche International Route.

The consolidation of human settlements along the Pehuenche International Route, arising from people´s need to get close to agricultural and livestock labor  sources means that many families  have moved to large estates where they  receive housing that lacks all  the basic services. This means that both  local municipalities and the State  find it impossible to resolve this gap  given that the  housing  is  built on private and non-regularized land.

This situation not only puts the health of the inhabitants of these households at risk, but also makes it unfeasible for the neighbors to take any formal action to make  improvements. It also means that surface and underground watercourses  are contaminated by solid waste from  the  cesspits existing on the land.

The construction of sanitary wells for sewage treatment would solve a sanitary and environmental problem of the families who live in these communities, helping to improve their life quality and the possibility of developing their business ventures formally.
