In 2020, the Mesamávida Neighbors’ Association, ENEL, and the energy generator AELA, decided to promote a competition-based fund to support local ventures. The purpose of the initiative was to collaborate with local entrepreneurs who required funding of up to $250,000 for their projects.
To guarantee the success of the initiative, both companies and the community´s leaders carried out a detailed and transparent dissemination process and organized meetings that clarified the rules governing the procedure, accompanied by the presentation of the relevant tender documents, field visits, project reception, assessment of admissibility, definition of economic activities, selection criteria and, presentation of an assessment team made up of the Neighbors’ Association leaders and representatives of the Los Buenos Aires and Cuel windfarms.
40 technical proposals were presented of which 22 fully complied with the requirements.
9 projects were finally selected, 6 of which are led by women and 3 by men. The awardees were involved in training in previous years which was also offered by the Company, in the areas of food production, poultry breeding, beekeeping and vegetable growing.
On November 25, 2020, the award contracts were signed, and the resources were transferred to the beneficiaries.
