This project is part of the SDG 5 and 8
As part of the expansion of the Pabellón Hill Geothermal Power Plant, located 4,500 meters above sea level, where the nearest community is the village of Ollagüe, the Company has continued to incorporate local ventures into its value chain, as it did during the construction of units I and II.
The initiative, which began in 2016, is to help create local SMEs, within the framework of the Social Value Creation policy and vision, founded and managed by the Quechua communities living in and around Ollague. The Company and the community have identified the main services required for the tasks which, in turn, can be supplied and managed by the small ventures. The services that are part of the project include industrial cleaning of the campsite, transport of workers and a small-sized market. As a company, we provide training in technical and administrative areas so that the participants can create and manage their ventures on their own and, today, they also employ 18 women from the Ollague area hired by the SMEs, who have signed a service agreement for the duration of the project under construction.
This means not only a development opportunity for the local population that will permit residents to achieve a better quality of life for their families, but also the incorporation of local SMEs into Enel´s value and supply chain with a competitive and quality offer.
