The Shared Value Fund that is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility area (CSR) is one of commitments of the agreement signed by local trade unions, neighbors´ associations, the Municipality of Coronel, the Regional Government of Biobío, the Ministry of Energy, SERVIU and Endesa Chile in December 2014. There are 180 million pesos available in the fund each year and it will extend throughout the useful life of the Bocamina Plant. The fund seeks to promote local projects that improve the quality of life of the families who live in Coronel.
This fund is managed in conjunction with CORCORONEL, the Municipal Corporation for the Development of Coronel, and has so far completed the following projects: "Asphalt cover for Calle 2 of the Escuadron Sector of Coronel", "Organization and homologation of kiosks of small entrepreneurs and located in the center of Coronel"; "Coronel Center for veterinary medical services and temporary shelter for abandoned dogs"; "Equipment for clinics and dental health services in Coronel´s municipal health centers", among others.
The value of this program for Enel lies in creating job and infrastructure relevant to the area and community development initiatives, in partnership with the local government. Thanks to the implementation of this fund, it has been possible to comply with the agreement signed with various local players.
This program has permitted Enel to provide fundamental infrastructure for Coronel´s vulnerable small and micro businesspeople. It has also provided infrastructure including road improvements and has promoted projects that contribute to public and communal health.
