Enel builds its social initiatives based on two core concepts: inclusivity and participation.
In the experience at Mejillones, one of the interest groups identified was the school community at the Juan José Latorre Education Complex, with its School Integration Department (PIE) running a module for Transitioning to Adult Live (TVA).
Here we have designed the Inclusive Cookery Project, offering an opportunity for students with varying cognitive capacities aged between 16 and 24.
The project comprises the construction of infrastructure within the education complex to operate as a cookery workshop where students can learn techniques that provide them with the professional skills necessary for their future performance, making them more employable.
Although Inclusive Cookery started with seven students, its medium-term objective is to position the school as a district benchmark for training young people with disabilities.
Another key success factor for this project is its partnership with the Mejillones Industrial Association, and its coming alliance with the company that provides canteen services at the Atacama Plant.
