Enel has set itself the challenge of incorporating the circular economy into its processes, with the intention of contributing to the mitigation of the impacts produced by climate change. A good example of this is the “Bocamina Thermoelectric Power Plant Waste Valuing Project”.
The electric power generation by the Bocamina unit 2 power plant produces by-products, such as gypsum and ashes, which were formerly considered “waste” and as such, their final disposal took place in landfills. However, under the watch of the circular economy, ash and gypsum are now valuable materials that may have a second use or an extension of their life cycles, through their marketing as raw materials in production processes for the local cement production industries.
