At the end of 2020, Enel began to participate in the diagnosis sector towards the creation of the CPA Transition for a Circular Economy for Business Action, along with other players from various product and service industries in the country. This process seeks to guide the creation of strategies and actions in order for companies to begin a transition towards the circular economy, identifying critical steps towards the development of a roadmap focusing upon production processes and the incorporation of new business models based on collaboration between players.
The Enel Chile group was represented by the Circular Economy area in this first stage and worked together with different business lines in order to collect relevant information for the sector diagnosis. The process consisted in a qualitative description of the material and energy flows of some representative business processes, in order to obtain a baseline of the group's circularity and to build goals upon this, for the CPA participants to be able to increase their circularity. Additionally, a survey was completed and participation took place in an interview towards describing the status of incorporation of the circular economy into the business strategy.
Enel's participation in this process is relevant for the electric power sector, since the proposed goals will not only include the characteristics of the manufacturing sectors, but also those of service sectors such as the electric power sector.
