The great work carried out by the Teletón is by now widely known, but looking into the functioning of its Institute allows us to understand better the importance of this crusade upon the lives of many people. Such was the experience that the Enel ambassadors experienced, who, through an interesting visit were able to go further, being witnesses of the effort carried out every day by thousands of professionals and families towards improving the lives of boys and girls that are being rehabilitated every day throughout Chile.
The Santiago Teletón Institute was inaugurated on December 1st, 1979 during the second Teletón and currently offers services to more than 10,000 boys and girls in the Metropolitan and O’Higgins regions. This Institute is a reference point in its type at the national level, and it is where the largest number of the Teletón surgeries take place.
The Enel ambassadors are the representatives of the company’s employees in this campaign. They lead and coordinate different activities carried out by the company, transmitting energy to the public. One of them is Sergio Blanc, manager of the commercial offices of Enel Distribución, who, after visiting the Santiago Teletón Institute, assured that “to see live everything that is done, all of the work adapted to the assistance and improvement of the lives of all the children and people, the truth is, I leave tremendously energized to motivate my colleagues and to be able to achieve the goal”.
Another ambassador who was able to learn about this effort closely was Robert Chamorro, who is the head of the Collections Unit of Enel Distribución, and who recognized that “we can see great things have been done and they keep growing. Everything is more professional, better looking for the children and their families. As the guide told us, it is like a home. I am glad to see that the Institution has grown and the fact that my company is participating makes me very happy”.
