On February 3, 2018 the city of Santiago will host a new edition of the Formula E. At the event, the most sustainable of the worldwide motor shows, 20 race car drivers will run a 2,470-meter route, passing through the districts of Santiago, Providencia, and Recoleta, filling the heart and streets of Chile’s capital with energy.
During the inauguration of the race, held on October 12, one of the electric cars was taken to the La Moneda Palace, so that the President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet, could officially welcomed the Formula E. Once the presidential greeting was received, the national driver, Eliseo Salazar, got into the car to drive it to Parque O´Higgins; one of the largest public parks in Santiago, where he demonstrated, through an exciting exhibition, that Formula E and electric cars are on a par with those which compete in traditional circuits.
"That the Formula E arrives to the streets of our country for the first time is a historic milestone and a dream come true. The most important thing, besides the sportsmanship and the excitement that this race brings, is that it generates awareness that the future of automobiles is electric, "commented Eliseo, who has been one of the promoters of the initiative.
Enel is the Official Power Partner of this itinerant championship, not only because it involves the quest to promote and boost the development of electric mobility, but also because Formula E reflects two pillars of its "Open Power" strategy: to bring energy to more and more people and open up to new technologies.
In this way this race will represent a new opportunity for citizens to closely observe an example of the innovative technologies that Enel has designed for Formula E and for the future of the planet.
