Sauzal Hydroelectric Power Plant
The Sauzal power plant is owned by Enel Generación Chile S.A. and is located on Route H255 Camino Termas de Cauquenes, Km 11 S/N, Machalí, O'Higgins Region. It was built in 1941, in the middle of World War II, which made it difficult to obtain materials and machinery to start it up, as planned, in 1945. Considering the year in which it was built, it is likely that much of the construction was done by hand, almost without heavy machinery, implying a great effort for those who were involved in the construction work. It has an installed capacity of 80 MW.
