  • The Las Condes Electrostation features ten charging points that operate 24/7, 365 days a year. The open access to this public space is intended to promote electromobility for private citizens as well as service fleets and, enabling a savings of more than 500 tons of CO2 in 2024.

Santiago, July 12, 2024.- One of its kind in Latin America, the Las Condes Electrostation is the first charging center for electric vehicles located entirely on public property, allowing community members to charge private vehicles, passenger fleets, last-mile delivery and courier vehicles, emergency vehicles, community shuttle buses, and even garbage collection trucks, among others. The strategic alliance between Enel X Mobility and the Municipality of Las Condes is responsible for providing this universal charging center, located on the south side of Parque Araucano - where Presidente Riesco meets Calle Urano - offering standardized connectors for all electromobility adaptations currently found in Chile.

The new charging hub, which is already operational and available 24/7, has five double fast chargers and one double socket slow charger, totaling 614 KW, powered by a 1000 kVA transformer dedicated exclusively to this service. The energy supplied by Enel is 100% clean and renewable.

The electrostation marks a new milestone for Santiago, which has positioned itself as the second city in the world, after Seoul in South Korea, with the highest number of public chargers in relation to its number of electric vehicles in circulation. It is also important to mention that this new charging hub offers different connections to cater for the different EVs available in our market, in a space designed to charge 10 vehicles at any given time. It has two easy access points (from the east and west), with natural shade and an attractive landscape.

The initiative carried out by Enel X Mobility and the Municipality of Las Condes enhances the electric charging infrastructure available in the heart of the district, just steps from Green Park, the largest electromobility hub in Latin America, located in the Parque Arauco mall parking lot.

The Las Condes Electrostation is equipped with pedestrian-style LED lights and a camera system that allows for real-time monitoring of the charging center's operation. Its access points are via Avenida Presidente Riesco, connecting eastward to Avenida Manquehue and westward to Alonso de Córdova.

For Jean Paul Zalaquett, Manager of Electromobility at Enel X, this new milestone facilitates and brings electromobility closer to the public, adding to an extensive network of public electric charging stations, enabling the transition to clean transportation, while moving forward with projects that are multiplying throughout the country.

“This project, in collaboration with the Municipality of Las Condes, is a true civic symbol. It is an open, universally accessible site where individuals and fleets can rely on a fast and high-performance electric charger. While Las Condes is the first of these new electrostations, other districts have shown a lot of interest in them. We want to replicate this model so that more cities across the country continue to embrace the benefits of electromobility.”

Meanwhile, Mayor Daniela Peñaloza emphasized that it is no coincidence that Las Condes hosts the first public electrostation in the country. “We are very proud of the steps we have taken to build a community that is increasingly at the forefront in the use of clean energy. Our commitment to the environment has allowed us to be part of the Community Energy Program, where we have equipped all of our district’s public schools with solar panels and offer a significant fleet of free electric buses for residents. The installation of this electrostation represents an important milestone for our community, continuing this path of caring for our environment while also undeniably setting a good example for the rest of the country.”

The Las Condes Electrostation operates 24/7, with uninterrupted service throughout the year. Nevertheless, there are peak and off-peak schedules with differentiated pricing based on the time of the year. From October to March, the “Off-Peak Months” schedule applies, with no restrictions on the availability of chargers—all hours and all charging points available. From April to September, the “Peak Hour Months” concept goes into effect, where from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, all chargers operate with a combined total maximum power of 100kW, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. The Enel X Way app shows the real-time availability and occupancy of each charger.

Within the Las Condes Electrostation, the speed limit is set at 20 km/h, and vehicles must use low beam headlights and hazard lights. Local authorities urge users to avoid obstructing the bike path that runs through the same area, and which was specially designed to provide safety and comfort for those coming to charge their vehicles.

The Las Condes Electrostation features state-of-the-art devices that allow users to charge their vehicles using the following options:

  • Direct activation from the app. Using the Enel X Way app, and once parked in front of the charger, select the available connector, and press the “start charging” button.
  • Activation from the app using the QR code. Using the Enel X Way app, and once parked in front of the charger, select the “QR Code” button, scan the QR code from the charger screen, choose the available connector, and press the “start charging” button.
