Enel X and Movistar Chile open 2024 introduce the electric bus that will transport tournament attendees free of charge

  • A shuttle bus will be available from the beginning to the end of the tournament, offering deferred trips, one way and return, from Los Dominicos subway station to the San Carlos de Apoquindo stadium. Users will have the opportunity to enjoy electric mobility and support actions for a more sustainable sport.

 

Santiago, February 22, 2024.- In the facilities of the San Carlos de Apoquindo Stadium, which will host the most important tennis event in the country, the ATP Chile Open 2024, presented the electric bus that Enel X enabled for the free transfer of those attending the tournament, which will travel to and from the Los Dominicos subway station. People who take this option can travel in a comfortable and modern zero-emission vehicle, which will have four schedules for the outward trip to the sports venue and four return trips to the subway.

Starting on Monday, February 26, the date of the start of the final draw of the ATP Chile Open 2024, and until the last day, to be held on Sunday, March 3, the King Long bus, operated by Vivipra, has a capacity for 44 people seated and standing (one for wheelchairs), air conditioning, Wi-Fi, security cameras and USB charging ports.

Metro Santiago and the Municipality of Las Condes have made areas available for attendees to board a bus from the Los Dominicos Metro station. Passengers will be guided by signage to the bus stop, concluding its journey in San Carlos de Apoquindo.

The Enel X electric bus presentation was attended by several dignitaries, including Juan Manuel Masferrer, the municipal administrator of the Municipality of Las Condes, Catalina Fillol, the director of the Movistar Chile Open 2024, Karla Zapata, the general manager of Enel X, Enzo Cruces, the commercial manager of Vivipra, and the Italian tennis player Luciano Darderi, who recently won the ATP Tour of Cordoba (Argentina) and is currently ranked 76th in the ATP ranking. They all participated in the inaugural electric charge of the bus, which took place at the same venue. Then, they enjoyed a tour on board the vehicle inside the Universidad Católica sports club facilities in San Carlos de Apoquindo.

Karla Zapata, general manager of Enel X, said that The tennis tournament in Chile is driven by a policy that aims to support the development of sports in the country. It also seeks to incorporate technology, innovation, and energy-efficient solutions into sports facilities. For instance, in 2023, the lighting of Court 1 was improved, and this year, a zero-emission electric bus was added for free transportation of attendees to reduce the event's carbon footprint. According to the tournament director Catalina Fillol, the objective is to improve people's quality of life and showcase the city. The event is a 360° experience that incorporates sports, entertainment, and social aspects, and it strives to be increasingly sustainable. The Enel X electric bus significantly contributes to achieving the goal of becoming a sustainable tournament. The initiative will also bring people closer to the sport, reduce its environmental impact, and help protect the planet from waste. The tournament organizers are grateful for the essential support of Metro Santiago and the Mayor of Municipality of Las Condes, Daniela Peñaloza, who were instrumental in this logistic activity.
