  • The project includes the installation of 224 state-of-the-art LED projectors for the 4 towers of the country's top sports facility, as well as 12 projectors positioned beneath the marquee, featuring an individual remote control system for each luminaire to achieve unmatched levels of energy efficiency.

Santiago, August 16, 2023.- For the 2023 Pan American Games, which will be held in Santiago from October 20th to November 5th, the National Stadium will have a world-class sports lighting system. The project, awarded to Enel X and Signify through a public bid process, considers the installation of 224 state-of-the-art LED projectors for the stadium's 4 towers, as well as 12 projectors positioned beneath the marquee, all FIFA-standard, using efficient, sustainable, and better quality lighting technology in order to provide an incredible show for both the audience and the athletes.

With an installed capacity of 320 kW, the new system's lighting levels will allow videos to be recorded and transmitted in high resolution, maintaining light uniformity, while also using the same automated monitoring systems that have also been implemented in the world's top professional soccer leagues.

“For Enel X, it is a pleasure to be able to advance in the energy efficiency of such iconic venues as the National Stadium in Santiago, developing a one-of-a-kind project in Latin America through the latest in lighting systems. We will also be implementing world-class innovation and technology at the service of the sporting event, but doing so in a way that is sustainable and efficient,” says Karla Zapata, CEO of Enel X Chile.

At Signify, we are proud to be able to participate in the renovation of the National Stadium's LED lighting system, which from now on will have state-of-the-art technology with our Arena Vision LED and Interact Sports Control System. Together, they will offer a unique experience for both athletes and spectators alike, with the best energy performance possible,” notes Hernan Larrosa, Sales Manager for Professional Projects at Signify.

The project optimizes the lighting of the athletic track so that the National Stadium may best accommodate the 2023 Pan American games. Fans can get an immersion experience thanks to the new system for managing the consumption efficiency of the luminaires. It will also feature a modern control and management system offering a one-of-a-kind light show for the country's top sporting venue.

The project execution is divided into 2 phases. In the first of these, the companies have already started dismantling the existing equipment, lines, and connections, paving the way for the second implementation phase. In this second phase, the transformer, equipment, ducts, wiring, and electrical installations will be replaced with the new efficient LED lights, and the new lighting will undergo testing.

In addition to the implementation of the LED lighting system for both the Stadium and the athletic track, an individual control system has been incorporated to allow for independent orientation of each projector installed, while dynamically illuminating specific sections of the track or field. This adds a distinctive and valuable feature to the venue, not only for the 2023 Pan American Games but also for hosting concerts and other large-scale events.

The new technology will enable the activation of LED light shows synchronized with audio and video. With this, the National Stadium joins the most important sporting venues in the region in upgrading their lighting infrastructure, incorporating the world's most efficient solution to meet the standards required by sports federations for high-definition television broadcasting.

The National Stadium project for the Pan American Games is just one more among a number of sports lighting projects already implemented by Enel X and Signify at venues such as the Club Hípico de Santiago, Hipódromo Chile, the Davis Cup in Viña del Mar, Chile ATP Open Santiago 250, and others.
