  • With facilities in logistical hubs in Santiago, La Serena, Viña del Mar, Concepción, Chillán, and Temuco, the leading e-commerce company's electric vehicles can deliver more efficiently and environmentally friendly.

24 de julio de 2023.- In mid-2022, Mercado Libre and Enel X Way announced the first joint installation of electric chargers for last-mile vehicles. The 30 charging points are located in one of the e-commerce company's distribution centers in Renca and provide information on power, usability, and charging schedules to apply logistical efficiency in the operation. During this milestone, both companies declared their commitment to promote concrete actions to favor the massification of electromobility in Chile.

Today, one year after the meeting, there are 114 charging points associated with the alliance, located in different Mercado Libre logistics centers throughout the country: in addition to Santiago, there are charging points in La Serena, Viña del Mar, Concepción, Chillán, and Temuco. These charging stations are fast and flexible, allowing the electric fleet in charge of dispatching packages to be charged with energy in the same place from where the route starts. This process can take between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the type of load.

Mercado Libre has more than 150 vans within the last-mile service and is about to announce the incorporation of 100 more. These vans are estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 50% per km traveled compared to combustion vehicles.

Adding these vehicles is part of Mercado Libre's regional strategy to reduce carbon emissions throughout Latin America, taking on the challenge of integrating our business with the planet. The technology company already has more than 1,000 electric vehicles in Latin America, consolidating one of the largest electric mobility fleets in the region. Aside from choosing suppliers and strategic partners for its logistics network in Chile, its storage and distribution center in Colina is 100% supplied by renewable energies.
