Acuerdo con Agrupación Luz
  • Enel Distribución and Agrupación Luz para Ellos have signed a collaboration agreement. The primary objective of this agreement is to ensure that, in the event of a supply interruption, electro-dependent patients will have immediate energy backup for their medical devices, providing a sense of reassurance and security.
  • Caregivers and guardians of patients will be provided with comprehensive training in the correct use of the equipment, ensuring they feel prepared and competent in their roles.

Santiago February 13, 2025. Enel Distribución and Agrupación Luz para Ellos signed today a collaboration agreement in which it is established, among other points, that the company will provide on loan a permanent equipment that will allow those customers registered in its registry of electro-dependents, to supply energy to the medical devices to which they are connected in case of eventual interruptions of the electricity supply.

This agreement with Agrupación Luz para Ellos is very important because it allows us to continue the work we started more than 10 years ago to provide our customers with a preferential and excellent service. Climate change puts us in front of extreme events for which we have to prepare ourselves, ensuring the peace of mind of those who need energy the most. This includes our commitment to providing priority service to our electro-dependent patients, making them feel valued and important”, said Víctor Tavera, general manager of Enel Distribución.

Today we are here to celebrate an important step on the road to the protection and well-being of the families that are part of the electro-dependent population in Chile. The signing of these commitments assumed by Enel Distribution with Luz para Ellos is a gesture that honors the memory of Lucas Riquelme, whose legacy and struggle for the defense of the rights of electro-dependent patients is still as alive as the first day”, said Carola Gonzalez, president of Agrupación Luz para Ellos.

The agreement establishes that, at the time of signing the commodatum contract, the electro-dependent client, his attorney or legal representative, may voluntarily authorize Enel Distribución to install, at the latter's expense, an electronic meter with remote communication in his home. This initiative is in line with the campaign implemented by Enel Distribución which aims to anticipate the deadlines for the replacement of this type of meters established in the technical regulations.

The agreement also states that Enel Distribución will maintain the operation of its exclusive Priority Telephone Service Platform for Electrodependents, to which the patient, the proxy and/or legal representative have direct access through the automatic recognition of the telephone number(s) provided at the time of the registration request and/or data update.

Additionally, Enel Distribución will incorporate recognition functionalities in its digital self-service channels in WhatsApp and website, so that, if an Electrodependent chooses to report an incident in the supply through these channels, they will have the ability to enter a prioritized attention order.

At the same time, the Association, in collaboration with Enel Distribución, will organize biannual workshops aimed at legal representatives, caregivers, guardians and relatives of electro-dependent patients to train them in the correct and safe use of electrical backup equipment, protocols for action in the event of emergencies related to electricity supply and education on energy efficiency in the home.

Enel Distribución and the Agrupación will promote joint work with governmental and health authorities to promote the creation of a National Registry of Electro-dependents with home hospitalization in their private homes, under the responsibility of the national health authority (Ministry of Health or whoever it may determine), and also establish the “National Day of the Electro-dependent”, with the aim of making their situation visible. In addition, they will seek to create awareness of the need for the formal registration of electro-dependent people in the Register of Electro-dependent People of Enel Distribución and establish national protocols for the care of electro-dependent people in cases of emergencies or natural disasters.
