Santiago, May 09, 2019 - This morning there were power outages that mainly affected the northern sector of Santiago. At the peak, 13,149 customers were affected, representing 0.6% of the Enel Distribución customers. Through maneuvers carried out by remote control from the System’s Operation Center, 4,000 customers had their power back in less than 15 minutes and during the afternoon the entire supply was normalized.
The power lines, being mostly aerial, are exposed to different incidences and, therefore, the causes of the power outages are varied including, crashes against posts, vegetation interference, and humidity conditions that affect the distribution network.
Enel Distribución maintains a transparent and permanent system of continuous information with the Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels that is updated every 15 minutes for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, the company offers an online power outage map to its customers and to the public on the website www.enel.cl. Today both systems operated normally.
