- Technical teams from municipalities such as Lo Barnechea and Vitacura have visited the company's Center of Operational Excellence to learn how the electrical infrastructure operates. Their goal is to explore ways to enhance collaboration in the field, particularly during emergencies.
Santiago, November 29, 2024 - Enel Distribución's Operational Excellence Center is a specialized training center for electricity distribution activities. Training at the facilities aims to enhance work techniques and reduce the risk of accidents for collaborators and contractors in the field. It features rooms, laboratories, and outdoor areas spanning over 8,000 square meters, where more than 3,300 individuals have been trained.
Additionally, the space welcomes schoolchildren, technical institute students, firefighters, and municipal teams interested in learning about the operation of electrical networks and their components. This week, officials from the Municipality of Lo Barnechea participated in a training session aimed at promoting energy efficiency within their community. Additionally, they learned about the operation of the city's electrical system to enhance coordination among technical teams, particularly during emergency situations.
"We had an outstanding obligation to improve communication between public workers, who interact with residents every day, and the service-providing company, as they share the same territory. It was a very enriching experience. I learned many valuable things that I needed to know, and I can now share this knowledge with our teams," says Lo Barnechea's technical inspector for urban tree planting, Francisca Díaz.
"We are implementing a robust training plan to showcase our distribution network at a real scale, focusing on experience sharing and electrical risk prevention while strengthening our alliances with various stakeholders. This reflects our interest in implementing best practices in alignment with our sustainability strategy and operational challenges," says Yanett Henríquez, head of Enel Distribución's Center of Operational Excellence.
The Operational Excellence Center is a project developed progressively since 2019, expanding its spaces, equipment, and infrastructure to a high technological standard while attracting various interest groups. Today, it serves as a dedicated facility for electrical distribution training, where work techniques are refined and practiced in conditions that mirror those in the field. This approach aims to enhance excellence and safety among both current and future professionals in the industry. The center is available to students seeking to learn a trade and is also open to public agencies and municipalities within Enel Distribución's concession area in the Metropolitan Region.
