- More than 300 people in nine municipalities within the company's concession area have been involved in the project.
For Enel Distribución, safety is a priority, and for this reason, we seek to develop and promote a culture of protection among employees and customers. To this end, the area of Health, Security, Environment & Quality (HSEQ), and Sustainability, in collaboration with the Municipality of Quinta Normal, held a talk on Electrical Risks for students studying Technical Electrical Engineering at Alberto Hurtado Educational Center.
As part of the Electric Risk Prevention project, the activity consists of a series of talks aimed at preparing local communities in the company's concession area with the necessary resources to act in the event of such accidents and how to prevent them.
“As a team, we are convinced knowledge is the basis for caring for and protecting life. Working with communities in these instances allows us to solve the gaps in our understanding of electrical systems present in our cities and homes, thus knowing the preventive measures to take in case of exposure to electrical risks. After each session, we hope to contribute to improving people's lives to prevent them from having this kind of accident in the future,” said Francisco Messen, HSEQ manager at Enel Distribución.
On this occasion, approximately 70 students received practical and educational information from Enel's risk prevention experts. Throughout the day, they acquired crucial knowledge for their future professions and for reducing accidents in their own homes.
“Knowledge of electrical risks is not part of the ministerial curricula, so it is important for us to be able to provide students with this knowledge, as it will influence their safe work performance and help them to stand out in the electricity industry,” said Camila De la Quintana, head of Sustainability and Circular Economy at Enel Distribución.
This project is directed at residents in areas with high accident rates, so it seeks to teach them to consider prevention as essential for safe and reliable access to electric service. To date, the project has benefited more than 300 people in nine municipalities in Enel Distribución's concession area.
