- Students had a chance to use the Operational Excellence Center facilities for practical training.
- The program aims to promote new professional paths in the field of electricity.
Enel Distribución, in collaboration with educational institutions across its concession area, actively participated in internship certification ceremonies and courses offered by the Electric Training for the Future Network. At this time, students from the Liceo Bicentenario Manuel Plaza Reyes (Lampa) and Liceo Bicentenario Ignacio Domeyko (Recoleta) had an opportunity to participate in the program, in an effort recognized by company representatives who participated in both events.
“This process we are involved in has proven to be well-rounded, positive, and very favorable to all. I hope that students realize the amount of social responsibility behind the work they do, as it involves ensuring a basic service for the community, which must always be done safely,” says Francisco Messen, HSEQ Manager for Enel Distribución.
The training project aims to provide technical knowledge in the field of electric power distribution, with the goal of creating new job opportunities for young people. With a total of 117 apprentices, including 22 women, this year's program offered 52 hours of training, covering both theoretical and practical aspects.
"It is crucial to contribute to sustainability efforts with concrete actions, and with this initiative, we are hoping to attract new STEM talents to meet the city's electrification goals. We are convinced that generating intentionality in new opportunities for productive and gender inclusive employment will create sustainable value for the electrical industry and complement what students are learning at technical high schools across Enel Distribución's concession area," notes Camila De la Quintana, Sustainability and Circular Economy Manager at Enel Distribución.
Students had the chance to use the facilities at Enel Distribucion's Operational Excellence Center (CEO), a high-tech training and specialized space in the electrical field, focused on occupational safety and service quality. Participants were able to develop the technical competencies, skills, and behaviors to work safely on electrical infrastructure, while always remembering to protect the environment.
“I’m really excited. I never imagined I would get this far because it was very complicated for me, but it was incredible to have the support of Enel," said Anaís Donoso, a student at Liceo Bicentenario Manuel Plaza Reyes (Lampa).
The ceremonies highlighted the work and commitment of each participant in the training program, whose main objective was to apply industrial their electrical skills in an appropriate and high-quality environment, with the opportunity to reinforce the students’ prior knowledge and provide them with a first approach to the working world.
In this sense, the principal of Liceo Bicentenario de Lampa, Simón Álvarez says: “With Enel, we have trained three generations of students, and in this process, I can only express my gratitude for being able to take them to a higher level of learning and also professional practice thanks to the Center.”
The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and is the result of Enel Distribución's collaboration with educational institutions across the Metropolitan Region to promote new professional paths in the field of electricity.
