Santiago, December 16, 2021. The Enel Foundation and Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD) launched "Chile Territorio Futuro" to address the nation's critical issues to 2030, creating brainstorming instances, proposals, and tools contributing to forward-looking public discussions.
An ambitious interdisciplinary project coordinated by the City Innovation Center at UDD's Faculty of Architecture, seeking to encourage dialogue among fundamental players with wide-ranging participation.
The innovative platform expects to engender debate around long-term scenarios. As a result, the spawning of crucial questions and issues for the future of Chile would emerge.
Topics include developing environments to establish well-being, prosperity, quality of life, and neighbourhood-centred. In addition, climate change issues, quantify risks, and practical discussions on their reduction; an ecological transition that redefines the production and consumption matrix to move towards circular mitigation systems of zero net emissions, among others.
From a collective standpoint, as stated by Carlo Papa, Executive Director at Enel Foundation: "Chile Territorio Futuro embodies a platform seeking to contribute to Chile's future. Civil society, scholars, businesses, universities, public and private research organizations, companies and associations will join forces to identify long-term trends and challenges, jointly offering life-improving proposals to citizens and communities-at large".
Federico Valdés, the Rector at UDD, said: "Universidad del Desarrollo's involvement in this project, backed by Enel Foundation's scientific team, hopes to contribute to the future of Chile and the region by generating relevant information. Achieved by having a broad discussion spectrum, exploring opportunities for innovation, influencing public policy development, providing citizens with the necessary social responsibility to create sustainable value, and positively impacting various communities that coexist in our territory”.
The project involves building prospective scenarios based on expert knowledge, data science, applied research, and fieldwork to prioritize the desired plan and generate a vision and "meta-country" by topic, activating strategies and actions that enable development. Finally, sharing proposals and concrete measures regarding the issues and goals discussed; proposing content, tools, or projects that help decision-makers and society advance Chile's long-term vision.
